Bunbury residents have been urged to support their local shops and retailers this Christmas, and spread the festive cheer.
Labor Candidate for Bunbury Don Punch said this week Christmas was a great opportunity to support local retailers and local jobs.
Every dollar spent in Bunbury this Christmas would help support the local economy and help build jobs, Mr Punch said. With extended free parking in the Bunbury CBD, shoppers had every reason to head into Bunbury and find a bargain.
“The city centre is looking great with the Christmas lights now up, and is really starting to get the festive cheer,” Mr Punch said.
“There are some fantastic shops in Bunbury. You can find really great brain teasers, games, great books, jewellery, and a great variety of clothes and knickknacks.
“Along with great public artworks to enjoy, Bunbury has a great atmosphere. If you are hunting for a quirky present you are surely going to find it among our city centre retailers.”
Mr Punch said hundreds of local people were employed throughout Bunbury retailers, and Christmas was a great opportunity to show support by shopping local.
“There are great meeting places for coffees and chats with many new coffee shops, bars and foodie places opening up during 2016,” Mr Punch said.
“If you haven’t been into town recently you will be surprised at what is available and buying local helps to keep local people and their families in a job.”
