Recently, Mark and I launched WA Labor’s plan for Bunbury. It is a plan that will see a fresh approach to our health services, education, jobs and public transport. It is a plan that is about building better opportunities for the people who live in our community and to help see our city grow and prosper.
Our vision for Bunbury is simple. A place where people can have a career as well as a job, a place where you can build a good home, send your kinds to great schools, university or TAFE, access health services that are well resourced and staffed and live in a City that we can all be proud of.
WA Labor's Plan for Bunbury will deliver this vision. It will help industry create jobs through access to industrial land, good infrastructure and an expanded Port of Bunbury. It will support new opportunities in tourism through cruise shipping and faster train services, as well as opportunities in the new economies of technology and services.
Under Labor our waterfront will be transformed building new jobs in the marine industry, new marina facilities and a new tourism precinct that is for locals as much as visitors. And we will include provision for waterpark features in the Koombana Bay precinct.
We will have a fresh approach for our hospital, increasing its capacity and providing a new urgent care clinic to help people when they need it most while taking the pressure off our Emergency Department.
We will fix the problem of people being relocated to outlying hospitals because of bed shortages. We will guarantee delivery of new Mental Health facilities.
Education is an investment in our future. There will be new canteen and Home Economics facilities for Bunbury Senior High School, a new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) centre at Newton Moore Senior High School and will invest $3million to upgrade South Bunbury Primary School.
Education assistants will be put back into Bunbury schools to help support our teachers and we will review TAFE to make it more industry relevant for the skills we need now and in the future as well as more affordable.
This plan is a fresh approach for Bunbury and will provide a foundation for the future of our City.
I am proud to be Bunbury and I am excited at the prospect of being part of a McGowan Labor Government. If I am elected I will work hard to deliver our plan for Bunbury and make our City an even better place to live.
