Lotterywest gets behind Bunbury celebrations

17 January 2020

Lotterywest is once again showing enormous support for the community of Bunbury, this time by providing funding for our Australia Day celebrations, Don Punch MLA, Member for Bunbury said.

“The Australia Day celebrations presented by the City of Bunbury are the best in regional WA but this amazing event would not be possible without the support of sponsors like Lotterywest”, said Mr Punch.

“It is a feather in the cap of the City of Bunbury staff that year in year out they are able to present a first class event that begins with the traditional Australia Day Breakfast at 6.30am and runs right through until the last firework of Sky Fest has faded away at about 9pm.

“It is the quality of the event together with the incredibly high levels of support it receives from the community that leads funding bodies like Lotterywest to lend their support to our Australia Day celebrations.

“This year Lotterywest are contributing $30 000 to the Bunbury Australia Day celebrations.

“Events like Australia Day play a really important role in bringing us together as a community and celebrating everything we have in common so I think this is completely in keeping with Lotterywest’s aim of helping to build a better WA together.

“Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in Australia, and the only lottery in the country, in fact one of the few in the world, where all the profits are returned back to the community.

“In 2018/19 Lotterywest raised more than $281 million to support the WA community and provided grants to 613 different not-for-profits and Local Governments.

“Both the City of Bunbury and Lotterywest are making an invaluable contribution to our community and I pass on my thanks to each of them.”
